THANKFULL - BECOMING A MORE GREATFUL PEOPLE #2 - HOW TO SAY THANK YOU TO GOD

Go through His gates, giving thanks; walk through His courts, giving praise. Offer Him your gratitude and praise His holy name.5 Because the Eternal is good, His loyal love and mercy will never end, and His truth will last throughout all generations

Psalms 100:4-5 (VOICE)

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)

I SAY THANK YOU TO GOD IN A MEANINGFUL WAY …

1. BY SINGING TO HIM.

Sing out your thanks to him; sing praises to our God...

Psalm 147:7 (LB)

Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)

2. BY GIVING TO HIM.

Give an offering to show thanks to God. Give him what you promised.

Psalm 50:14 (NCV)

...your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

2 Corinthians 9:11 (NIV)

3. BY PRAYING TO HIM.

Pray diligently. Stay alert, with your eyes wide open in gratitude.

Colossians 4:2 (MP)

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers.

Philippians 4:6 (LB)

Don’t eat such-and-such foods.” But God created all these to be received with gratitude by people who hold fast to the faith and really comprehend the truth. 4 For everything God made is good. That means nothing should be rejected as long as it’s received with a grateful heart, 5 for by God’s word and prayer, it is made holy.

2 Timothy 4: 3b-5 (VOICE)

4. BY TAKING THE LORDS SUPPER SERIOUSLY.

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 10:16 (NIV)

When you meet together, you are not really interested in the Lord's Supper. 21 For some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result, some go hungry while others get drunk. 22 …What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this! 23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord Himself. On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and said, "This is My body, which is given for you. Do this to remember Me." 25 In the same way, He took the cup of wine after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant between God and His people—an agreement confirmed with My blood. Do this to remember Me as often as you drink it." 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until He comes again.

1 Corinthians 11:20-26 (NLT)

5. BY SERVING HIM.

...Let us please God by serving him with thankful hearts...

Hebrews 12:28 (LB)

6. BY TALKING ABOUT HIM.

Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the world about his wondrous love. How mighty he is!

Isaiah 12:4 (LB)

7. BY LIVING IN A WAY THAT PLEASES HIM.

Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God...

Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.

Romans 12:1 (GNB)
