Remembering Jesus - His Purpose ... Our Purpose #6 God Called Me To Greatness - (Part 2) SOS

• Jesus saved me by serving me. Mark 10:45

• Jesus showed me how to serve others. John 13:15a

• Jesus sanctified me to serve others. John 13:15

Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name…

Philippians 2:9 NCB

…Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.

Matthew 20:26b NIV

FULLY EMBRACING GOD’S STRATEGY OF SERVICE…

1. REQUIRES THAT I HAVE THE HEART OF A SERVANT.

When you do something for someone else, don’t call attention to yourself. You’ve seen them in action, I’m sure—‘playactors’ I call them—treating prayer meeting and street corner alike as a stage, acting compassionate as long as someone is watching, playing to the crowds. They get applause, true, but that’s all they get.

Matthew 6:2 MP

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

Take no notice of his looks or his height. He is not the one, for the Eternal One does not pay attention to what humans value. Humans only care about the external appearance, but the Eternal considers the inner character.

1 Samuel 16:7 VOICE

Love… is not self-seeking.

1 Corinthians 13: 5 NIV

He was like God in every way, but he did not think that his being equal with God was something to use for his own benefit. Instead, he gave up everything, even his place with God. He accepted the role of a servant, appearing in human form.

Philippians 2:6, 7 ERV

Having a servant heart means doing because I love, not doing what I love!

2. REQUIRES THAT I BE OPPORTUNISTIC.

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Matthew 14:14 NIV

Jesus saw a large crowd… had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them

Mark 6:34 NIV

Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters.

Galatians 6:10 TLB

None of you should look out just for your own good. You should also look out for the good of others.

Philippians 2:4 NIrV

3. REQUIRES THAT I DISCOVER MY S.H.A.P.E.

We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians2:10 NIV

No one can do everything well…

…but everyone can do something well!
